Though born in Salzburg, Mozart's heart was in Prague with his "beloved Praguers," the only ones, he felt, who truly appreciated his music: a sentiment not hard to understand considering the city's rich musical tradition. Our walk present's Prague's music and historic venues against the backdrop of history: from medieval reformation hymns of the Hussites, through the classical age of the Hapsburgs, to the nineteenth-century National Revival operas of Smetana and Dvorak. Of course we also follow the trail of W.A. Mozart, whose visits to Prague gave us the opera Don Giovanni, and inspired the movie Amadeus. While introducing the city's historic theaters and concert halls we'll also help you choose the best concert program from the many Prague has to offer. After experiencing the grand atmosphere of the symphony or opera in its historic setting, you may agree with Mozart's description of Prague as the "conservatory of Europe."
